The Ways of Friendships

Written by Jina MacNeill

Friendships is an incredible force that shapes our lives in numerous ways. From when we are kids, and until we are old and wrinkly, friendships play a huge part in shaping us as individuals.

Beyond the memories shared, friendships are extremely crucial to not only personal happiness but also academic success and relationships with others. To really recognize how important truly impacts an individual in all aspects, we have to delve into the real significance of friendship.

Being able to rely on someone else and experience the same memories together, create a bond that is different from the bond that you have with your family. It helps create a feeling of safety and redemption for an individual. According to Mayo Clinic, friendships can increase your sense of belonging and purpose. This helps increase one’s personal happiness as they feel more connected to each other. Furthermore, friendships can improve your self-confidence and worth just by coexisting with your life. Amongst all things, your personal happiness is what matters the most, and friendships can help improve your outlook in life.

Life comes with many ups and downs, and for some people academics can be one or the other. Friendships can help determine whether your academics will be affected positively or negatively, ultimately deciding on your fate for your future. Being able to trust your friends to provide what is best for you, is a huge responsibility, however it is extremely helpful because of the possibility of being positively affected. According to a survey sent out by On the Record, many agreed that their friends influenced them to either improve their studies, or were able to improve their ability through others experiences.

An experience that is common with everyone, is creating relationships with others. To be able to make friends, one must have good communication skills to portray themselves in the most positive way. Sometimes, friends can help improve one’s communicative skills through practice between their own relationship. Depending on one’s relationships with others, society can collectively decide if their relationshp with an individual is positive or negative. Therefore, creating a constructive connection between others is the best way to ascend in relationships with others.

Personally, I have recognized one thing through the long process of friends: everyone comes and goes. There is nothing you can do about that. However, if you wants to keep someone forever, you must build a relationship that gives and takes on both sides. The outcome of creating a relationship like that is not just personal happiness, but also academic success and new positive connections with others.
