Should You Try the 3 6 9 Manifestation technique?

The 3 6 9 method is a manifestation technique that Tik Tok has popularized. It involves writing down what you’d like to manifest 3 times in the morning, 6 times midday, and 9 times a night. These numbers represent what Nikolas Tesla regarded as the key to unlocking the universe; it is said that they amplify the effects of the law of attraction.

The law of attraction is the idea behind manifestation, a belief that an individual has the infinite potential to claim anything from the universe through their thoughts and belief. As you might expect, the idea is met with a lot of criticism, especially from psychologists who claim that it is simply a faction of pseudoscience. However, ironically enough, the efficacy of the law of attraction is backed by years of psychology.


According to research conducted by Dr.Carol Dweck, a psychology professor at Stanford University, a growth mindset has a strong positive effect on achievement. She says, if we truly believe we can achieve something, we are more willing to work to achieve it. For example, if we truly think that we can lose 5kg in 4 weeks, we will become more likely to implement changes in our lives to lose weight, whether it's through exercising more or controlling our diet. Clearly, our thoughts do shape reality, maybe not to the extent that proponents of the law testify to, but it certainly does seem to have a substantial impact.

Additionally, the self-fulfilling prophecy may also explain the law of attraction. The self-fulfilling prophecy is the process by which our expectations, whether positive or negative, become confirmed. For example, if we believe that we will fail a test, we become more distracted or hazed during the test. On the other hand, if we believe that we will perform well on the test, we become more focused and efficient. Similar to the growth mindset, it displays the potency of our thoughts in shaping our achievements– testifying to the efficacy of the law of attraction.


However, this does not mean that psychology indefinitely supports the law of attraction. Realistically, there are some limitations to what we can manifest. But it can also be a force for good.


With that being said, it is time for you to try it.


Here’s the guide to how you can use the 3 6 9 technique to manifest what you want in life:

The general premise is to write your affirmations three times when you wake up, 6 times during the day, and 9 times before you go to sleep.


The affirmations have to contain two elements:


  1. What you think you will feel once you have achieved your desired outcome

  2. Your desired outcome


REMEMBER: when you write these affirmations, you must write in present tense, as if you have already achieved it.


For example, your manifestation can be:


I am so glad that I am tall.

Or

I am so confident that I am good at basketball.

Or

I am excited that I am the CEO of my own company.


Continue the routine for 33 days, although in a more general sense, 3 weeks suffice.

Even now, you may not fully trust the effectiveness of the technique, and that’s okay. My advice is: stick with what you believe, after all, the technique is only effective when you believe in it ^^
